Let’s review food given as a gift.
This gift choice is probably selected with all the best intentions in the gift-giver’s mind, however would you agree that these types of gifts arrive just when you have eliminated sugar or whatever the hell you’ve chosen to remove from your eating plans? Or when you’ve decided that sugar is the enemy and have started Keto? Ugh! Those gift-givers SHOULD know. I guess I’ll quit all of it. Ugh!!!
Well let me tell you, all that noise is just programming running unsupervised in that powerful brain of yours about food as gifts! Programming? Here’s a little bit of mine below:
My husband, the gift-giver in today’s episode, had Baked by Melissa mini cupcakes delivered today for my Valentine’s Day gift. My first thoughts when I opened the box were exactly the programming I just shared….the “How dare he!”, the “Maybe he likes me fat and wants to keep me fat!”, the “I guess I’ll start Monday.”, the “Why, of all options out there did he pick food?” thoughts. It was a telenovela worth of thoughts that could last a few seasons.
So, what do we do with this programming? Observe it from a higher perspective.
How? Well friends, this is the magic that we all possess!
If I truly look at the thoughts I chose to think about this gift, I realize they are just thoughts and only thoughts. These thoughts, even though I created them in my brain, may or may not be true.
Do I truly believe that he wants me to be fat? No. (and even if he did, I control that decision.)
Do I truly believe that sugar is the enemy? No. (imagine a bag of sugar with a pitchfork and horns).
Do I truly believe that I will start Monday? No. (Because I never stopped today.)
Do I truly believe he chose mini cupcakes to sabotage me? No. (It was a gift and it’s just food).
I work each and everyday on this process because what you run up in your operating system, aka brain, determines the frequency you emit out into the universe.
For those who are celebrating Valentine’s Day with food this weekend and want to believe your unsupervised thoughts and delay your progress….let’s chat a bit about that in my one-time, complimentary coaching session.
